The Special calculation screen allows you to generate torque/tension values based on 3 different cases
- Residual Stress
- Residual Load
- % Yield Stress
After selecting tightening method, pressure units cover or breakout options, data is entered in the boxes as shown below.
To begin, select the size of bolt you are working with and the number of bolts present, next select
bolt material and joint type and size (number, type and size are for reference purposes on the datasheet
and don’t affect the calculation) then choose your tightening specification and enter in your value and
finally enter in your joint thickness. Units for tightening specification and joint thickness can be entered in
metric or imperial (simply change the selection in the unit box below each field) and can be used in different
combinations (e.g. metric residual stress and imperial joint thickness)
Once all the required data has been entered, click on the calculate button and data is displayed as per the ANSI and API section.
